The developer had purchased a significant inner city site of approx 1.3 hectares in size and the major civils works contract was Stage 1 of a proposed major commercial/residential basement development (total development cost $140 million approx). Ethos project managed the entire civils project which involved demolition of the existing structures (old yeast factory), territorial authority consents, design, infrastructure services relocations, contaminated material testing, removal and validation, bulk excavation & removal from site of approx 80,000 m3 of material, installation of approx 275 piles each ranging from 10-20m in length, construction of approx 500m of pile capping beams, the installation of approx 300 ground anchors and 800 soil nails, 5,000m2 approx of shotcreting to excavated faces and the construction of approx 10,000m2 of basement foundations/lift pits/retaining walls/floor slab & associated sub-slab drainage. This was a major civil works project which had significant geotechnical design input, observation & controls.
